Memory is a cornerstone of community dignity. How we remember our history, honor those we’ve lost, and celebrate our collective power shapes how we move forward together.

The Tower of Memory Gatherings are sacred, artistic, and restorative spaces hosted by the Thrivance Group. These gatherings invite neighbors, artists, youth, and elders to come together to share stories, honor local legacies, and contribute to a physical and living monument of community memory.

Tower of Memory Gatherings in the Eliot Arts Community

Tower of Memory Gatherings are remembrance spaces. They serve as a visual and emotional anchor for the neighborhood. These gatherings are places where personal stories, historical triumphs, collective grief, and hopes for the future converge.

During the gatherings, community members can participate in dedicated memory practices, artistic creation, and storytelling circles to add their own light, names, and reflections to the Tower.

What is a Tower of Memory Gathering?

Tower of Memory Gatherings are designed to be reflective, creative, and deeply unifying:

  • Storytelling & Oral Histories: Opportunities to share and record reflections, tributes to loved ones, or memories of the neighborhood's evolving history.

  • Artistic Expression: Creative activities where attendees can craft tiles, ribbons, messages, or artwork to be incorporated into the final installation.

  • Restorative Remembrance: Facilitated moments of silence, music, and shared tribute to honor ancestors, lost community members, and historical milestones.

  • Intergenerational Bonding: Spaces intentionally curated for elders to pass down local wisdom and for youth to express their vision for the neighborhood's legacy.
